Maps of Mount Grammos Climbing and Hiking Trails

As part of the Cult2Routes program, the University of Western Macedonia and the Municipality of Nestorio commissioned AnaDigit to create a 1:50,000-scale map of the Eastern Grammos region. The map is based on the Greek Geodetic Reference System, features a geophysical relief, contour lines at 100-meter intervals, and a complete list of place names. It includes maps and tables with survey data for 16 mountaineering and 10 hiking trails in the Eastern Grammos range, as well as 4 trails in the Western Grammos range.

The hiking trails were mapped by T. Adamakopoulos, a civil engineer; Aikaterini Zagaretou, a forester; and Pantelis Dimitriadis, a mountain guide. Information and guidance were provided by Thomas Daoutis, a mountain guide, and Argyris Keramaris, deputy mayor of Nestorio. The hiking trails were mapped by P. Matsoukas, Ivi Adamakopoulou, and G. Doura. The map was compiled by Nikos Veis.

The map is an overview map and works in conjunction with the specialized hiking navigation app, Grammos Topoguide. The map is available free of charge from the Municipality of Nestorio and local guesthouses. You can download it here.

A map of the Grammos Ascent, on a scale of 1:40,000, has been published and is available for purchase. For more information, click here: https://anavasi.gr/gramos-smolikas-chartis-gr

Mobile hiking navigation app

The Grammos topoguide app is part of the topoguide family dedicated to Grammos. It includes 29 routes around Nestorio, Gramosta, and Aetomilitsa, leading to Alevitsa, Arenes, Gistova, Perifano, and Peak 2520.

The app was developed by AnaDigit as part of the Cult2Routes program organized by the Municipality of Nestorio and the University of Western Macedonia, and is available for free on Android and iOS devices.

The routes were mapped by T. Adamakopoulos, A. Zagareto, and P. Dimitriadis. The Android app was developed by N. Skouteris. The iOS app was developed by I. Sofo. The project was managed by A. Adamakopoulos.

The Grammos app offers offline detailed maps with a level of accuracy equivalent to a 1:2,500 scale, as well as a comprehensive introduction featuring detailed texts on geography, geology, history, and nature. A table listing the area’s Points of Interest and a search engine make it easy to locate various items of interest.

The app provides maps and directions for changing course along the trail.

The app includes directions, descriptions, and photos for 29 routes. Each route includes an elevation profile, a breakdown of geometric data, a detailed description, photos, and a table of Points of Interest located along the route.

In the field, the app identifies the nearest route and actively navigates toward it and then along it, providing frequent visual cues to the user and directions for changing direction, while also informing the user about nearby Points of Interest.

Finally, it guides him back onto the route if he strays more than 20 m from it.

The Gramos Topoguide app is available for FREE. Search for it on Google Play as Gramos Topoguide (or Gramos topoguide, if your interface is in English) and on the App Store as a free section within the larger Topoguide Greece app. Alternatively, use the links from the page:
