We walk on an abandoned dirt road which has the form of a wide trail today.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This old alley follows accurately the pre-war mule track, winding up the rocky ridge, known today as Skala Giannochoriou (Giannochori Stairway).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"443\" src=\"https:\/\/grammostrails.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Giannochori_Alevitsa-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1544\" srcset=\"https:\/\/grammostrails.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Giannochori_Alevitsa-01.jpg 800w, https:\/\/grammostrails.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Giannochori_Alevitsa-01-300x166.jpg 300w, https:\/\/grammostrails.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Giannochori_Alevitsa-01-768x425.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Locating the old path at the root of the rocky slope<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We finally arrive at the peak of Alevitsa where we can distinguish the military building and outposts of the World War II. On the flat plateau of the peak we can now see the extensive fortification of the Civil War and other relevant constructions of the first post-war decade. Looking carefully, we notice the slopes around the peak to be intensively excavated and that a complex network of connected trenches is still clearly visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-995f960e wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure
